Stardust Drifter Scavenger
About This Game
The year is 2347. Earth, a distant memory whispered in ancient data streams, is little more than a cautionary tale. We fled, you see. Consumed by its own ambition, humanity spilled its hunger across the stars, leaving a poisoned cradle behind. Now, scattered across a thousand independent star systems, the remnants of civilization cling to life, fractured and fragile. You are a Scavenger. Not some romanticized, dashing adventurer. No, you're down in the gritty underbelly of the cosmos, scraping by on the leavings of others. You pilot a rust-bucket vessel, the *Stardust Drifter*, barely held together by duct tape and the fervent prayers of its long-suffering AI, a sassy subroutine named Beatrice. Your life consists of salvage runs on derelict freighters, daring raids on abandoned outposts, and dodging the relentless patrols of the tyrannical Galactic Consortium. The Consortium, a vast corporate entity masquerading as a government, controls the major trade routes, suffocating any independent spirit that dares to breathe. They bleed the outer systems dry, hoarding resources and squashing any resistance with ruthless efficiency. They are your constant enemy, a looming threat on the horizon, always one misstep away from crushing you under their iron heel. Your current mission, assigned by the notoriously unreliable information broker known only as 'Whisper,' is to investigate a recently discovered anomaly on the fringe of the Andromeda Galaxy. A long-lost pre-collapse artifact, rumored to hold unimaginable power, has been detected. Whisper claims it could be the key to overthrowing the Consortium, a beacon of hope for the scattered colonies. Of course, Whisper also claims the artifact is guarded by ancient sentinels and that the Consortium already knows about it. So, you'll be facing deadly robots, ruthless mercenaries, and the full might of the Consortium's war fleet, all for the chance to grab a McGuffin that may or may not exist. Sound appealing? Good. Because the *Stardust Drifter* just dropped out of hyperspace and your scanners are already screaming. Something's waiting for you out there. This is your chance to change the fate of the galaxy, or at least, to make a quick buck trying. Just remember, out here, the only thing you can truly rely on is your wits, your instincts, and Beatrice's surprisingly effective sarcasm. Good luck, Scavenger. You'll need it.
